YMCA

YMCA programs and services focus on youth and families with our major activities being after school childcare (over 6,000 students per day), preschool programs, youth sports (basketball, soccer, baseball, flag football, roller hockey and swimming), summer day camps and holiday camps, as well as recreational and educational programs for teens.

All of our programs are tools for building values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. These programs are for people of all faiths, races, abilities, ages and incomes. No one is turned away. The YMCA's strength is in the people it brings together.

We at the YMCA of Greater Miami collaborate with schools, governmental agencies, other community service organizations, churches and neighborhood groups to bring programs and activities as close as possible to those who wish to participate. Working in partnership with volunteer boards, policies are set for the YMCA staff, who then manage the operations throughout the community.

The YMCA is at work in more than 120 countries around the world, and the YMCA of Greater Miami carries partnerships in other countries, especially those in Central and Latin America and the Caribbean.

Camps:
Imagine a vacation filled with sports, field trips, swimming, games, social activities, arts & crafts and more! These are just some of the activities that your child will be a part of at a YMCA camp. Our experience over the past 90 years has shown us how best to develop our programs so that the children want to return to us again and again!

YMCA camp counselors are selected, trained and supervised so that your camper will have the best experience. Safety and welfare is our number one concern.

Camps are available during summer, winter and spring school vacations for children ages 4 thru 15. Older children often stay with us and become counselors-in-training, enabling them to pass on their learned skills and talents to others. Camps are designed to be both fun and educational. We promote social development, encourage physical well being and help the children to develop an awareness of their surrounding environment.

We are committed to ensuring that your child will have fun in a safe and healthy environment that will develop self-esteem. We encourage campers to form strong peer friendships, encourage responsibility and leadership, and strengthen family relationships.

Those who are unable to afford our reasonable fees are given financial assistance wherever possible.

Health & Fitness:
For many years the YMCAs have been leaders in the push for community-based health & fitness programs. The Y views exercise as including the mind and spirit as well as the body, and believes that exercise is important for people of all ages, incomes and abilities.

As children grow up in the YMCA they are taught the importance of good exercise and a balanced diet. YMCA Healthy Kids Day is an annual celebration of the wellness of mind, spirit and body. This education of our children is a great grounding for a healthy adult life.

Several of the branches of the YMCA of Greater Miami offer Health & Fitness Centers that offer programs to help adults strengthen their bodies and their minds. Programs include swimming, tennis, martial arts, weight lifting, group exercise, and much more!

Sports:

A full range of sports programs that take place in a safe, non-competitive environment; where all children are treated as equals and get to play in every game; an atmosphere of mutual respect where everyone is a winner, and every participant received an end of season Y-winner trophy.

Sounds too good to be true? This is the quality of sports programs that are available year round at your YMCA. Our philosophy is that all children are winners, so there are no try-outs, no "cuts" and no team statistic records. Just a group of YMCA children (and adults!) taking part in a healthy activity that helps to build responsibility, leadership and self-esteem.

Among the many programs offered at our branches are:

  • Soccer
  • Flag Football
  • Softball
  • Swimming
  • Roller Hockey
  • Cheerleading
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Swimming
  • Tennis
  • Karate
  • Gymnastics
  • and many, many more!
