Little Tigers
Our Pee Wee program is for students between the ages of 4 to 6 years old. The classes teach young students tae kwon do basics while focusing on essential physical and life skills. Students improve their balance, coordination, reaction time and flexibility while also learning the values of respect, discipline, and obedience to their parents. The Pee Wee classes also strengthen listening and communication skills. Also, because we live in an uncertain time and world it is important to teach our children self defense skills to protect them. In our Pee Wee classes we instruct young children on the correct way to conduct themselves if they ever encounter danger.
Juniors
Our Junior Program is for students between the ages of 7 and 12 years old. The methods used in the juniors program consists of teaching confidence, self discipline and control as they learn how to act and react to the world around them. Our juniors are treated with respect and are taught to return the same respect towards others. We believe in praise, encouragement and positive reinforcement. We promote nonviolent resolution to conflict. The instructors teach our students the values of making goals and working to meet them. This will help them become more successful in all areas of their life. The students achieve their goals and are tested regularly; their progress will be assessed by an instructor.
About Master Sang:
Originally from Seoul, Korea, Master Sang Koo Kang has been serving the South Florida community since 1990. He is Chief Instructor and director of all Sang Tae Kwon Do School across South Florida. Master Sang is internationally recognized for his succesful, award winning youth programs emphasizing the core elements of martial arts: respect, discipline, perseverance and self-control. Master Sang is originally from Seoul, Korea where he began his study of martial arts at the young age of five. He hopes that through his schools, teachings and personal example he can help as many people as possible to be good persons and be positive forces in their communities.
Master Sang's Goals:
Master Sang hopes to reach as many people as possible with his unique brand of martial art he developed called T.N.T.(Tae kwon Do N' Muai Thai). He aspires to have ten schools operating in Southern Florida by 2008 and go national by 2009. Master Sang desires to have many students that aspire to live positive lives, serve their community and live by the values that martial arts represents.
What is Tae Kwon Do?
We have often been asked to define what Tae Kwon Do is, to encapsulate in a few words that which for many is a vague and elusive concept. When answering such a question, the first thing we try to impress upon the person is that Tae Kwon Do is more than a simple physical conditioning, mental training and philosophical study. It has to do with the development of Tae Kwon Do spirit, which carries over into all aspects of a student's life.
In English, the literal translation of Tae Kwon Do is the art of kicking and punching. "Tae" means to kick, "Kwon" means to punch, and "Do" means art. But this is only a superficial translation. That which is truly the essence of Tae Kwon Do cannot be seen, touched, smelled, tasted or heard. It can only be experienced. You have noticed that still have not answered the question of what Tae Kwon Do is. Our answer is to invite the questioner to experience Tae Kwon Do by studying with us.
