Honors Program
Riviera's top scholars in grades one through eight may apply to enroll in the Academic Honors Program. This unique program is designed to specifically address the needs of certain students who are ready and able to dedicate themselves to an additional and demanding workload. At designated times, these students will attend the Honors Program to work on a specialized curriculum incorporating various enrichment activities and accelerated lessons to further develop logical reasoning, cultural literacy, leadership skills, problem solving skills, collaboration skills, cooperative learning, and creative thinking through an interdisciplinary approach.
Technology
As a leader in educational technology and through a responsible approach to technology implementation and integration, Riviera prepares students with the requisite skills to be successful in todays world. Students develop an extreme level of fluency with technology through their experiences from early childhood through the highest grade levels. We are committed to integrating technology into our educational approach in order to enhance the learning process. Effective use of technology can help to make material more meaningful for students and contribute to the development of higher level thinking skills.
Student Service
Riviera is committed to encouraging and facilitating student service. Riviera students frequently participate in both school service events and community service projects. Some of these service projects are highlighted below.
Student Tutoring
National Junior Honors Society members tutor their peers and younger students every Monday afternoon.
Riviera Spirit
During Spirit Week, Riviera students bring in various items such as crayons, books, and videos to donate to less privileged or sick children.
Red Ribbon Week
As a part of our recognition of Red Ribbon Week, students often create coloring books. The books are sold and the money collected is donated to a charity.
Food Drive
Riviera students participate in the annual food drive in order to collect food for Thanksgiving. Thousands of food cans and other items are collected and donated to a local charity in order to help provide many people with food and happy times.
Toy Drive
Each year, students collect and bring thousands of toys to donate to local charitable groups to help provide happy holidays fopr underprivileged children.
Pennies For Patients
By collecting spare change, each year Riviera students are able to contribute to research to help fight leukemia.
Our small classes, close student-teacher relationships, parental involvement, broad-based curriculum, variety of curriculum enhancement activities, and talented faculty all combine to make Riviera a unique and exciting school community.
