We strive to provide a full continuum of excellent, state of the art clinical music therapy services to persons with developmental, emotional, cognitive, physical, and behavioral needs in a professional environment that exceeds the expectations of those we serve and educate.
Our goal is to provide state of the art clinical music therapy services to all our clients. We work collaboratively with other professionals and organizations throughout our community to improve the functioning and well-being of those we serve. We believe that our customers extend beyond the identified client to include the family, their educational, and therapeutic communities.
We strive to be an advocate for equal access to music therapy services for those whom it can benefit while also being a resource to the allied professions, the medical community, and the community at large.
Our vision includes:
Enhancing the visibility and credibility of music therapy as a viable and necessary treatment modality benefiting persons with disabilities and emotional needs throughout southeastern Florida and the state;
Promoting the advancement of music therapy intervention into traditional psychotherapy and behavioral treatments;
Integrating advanced theory and practice into our work with clients;
Creating meaningful and rewarding experiences that both heal and enrich lives.
To begin any services we provide, an indepth clinical interview must be completed. This session will be conducted by one of our licensed staff who will meet with the responsible party (i.e., parent or adult) to review the clients history, current functioning, identify treatment priorities, and determine a plan of treatment.
We offer a full range of behavioral and psychological services, including:
Psychological/Psychoeducational Evaluations
Music Psychotherapy
Music Therapy Evaluations
Music Therapy Consultations
Individual Therapy
Group Therapy
Therapeutic Musical Instruction
Play Therapy
Our fees vary by therapist. Our music therapists fees range from $100 to $250 per 45 minute session and, in most cases, are not covered by insurance. However, you may be able to use your mental health/insurance benefits for music therapy services with either Dr. Michelle Reitman and Dr. Alan Reitman at our Hollywood location. Contact our offices for more details.
Note, we can not accept straight Medicaid patients. However, persons seeking music therapy services whose child is enrolled in the Medicare Consumer Directed Care Plus (CDC+) program are often able to choose Cadenza Music Therapy to provide behavior therapy, speech therapy, play therapy, psychotherapy, or family therapy.
Under the Agency for Health Care Administration (Medicaid), the CDC+ program is administered by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs. The partner agencies in the program are the Florida Departments of Health, Children and Families, and the Agency for Persons with Disabilities. In Florida, the CDC+ Program developed from a pilot project for approximately 1.100 consumers. Since then the program has expanded. Currently CDC+ is only enrolling participants of the control group from the original pilot project, but general information about the program can be found on this Web site or by calling 1-866-232-3733.
Our licensed therapists fees range between $125 and $250 per 45-50 minute appointment. Click here for information and fees for Psychological Testing.
Our licensed providers do not work with HMO's. However, for those wishing to use their medical insurance's mental health benefits, we do accept some insurance plans with out-of-network privileges or PPO's. Your fees will vary depending upon your benefits. Our staff will verify your benefits and discuss your payment obligations prior to your first session. What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a human service profession which utilizes art media, images, the creative art process and patient/client responses to the created art productions as reflections of an individual's development, abilities, personality, interests, concerns, and conflicts. Art therapy practice is based on knowledge of human developmental and psychological theories which are implemented in the full spectrum of models of assessment and treatment including educational, psychodynamic, cognitive, transpersonal, and other therapeutic means of reconciling emotional conflicts, fostering self-awareness, developing social skills, managing behavior, solving problems, reducing anxiety, aiding reality orientation, and increasing self-esteem.
Art therapy is an effective treatment for the developmentally, medically, educationally, socially or psychologically impaired; and is practiced in mental health, rehabilitation, medical, educational, and forensic institutions. Populations of all ages, races, and ethnic backgrounds are served by art therapists in individual, couples, family, and group therapy formats.
Educational, professional, and ethical standards for art therapists are regulated by the American Art Therapy Association, Inc. (AATA). The Art Therapy Credentials Board, Inc. (ATCB), an independent organization, grants postgraduate registration (ATR) after reviewing documentation of completion of graduate education and postgraduate supervised experience. The Registered Art Therapist who successfully completes the written examination administered by the ATCB is qualified as Board Certified (ATR-BC), a credential requiring maintenance through continuing education credits.
