Based in Miami, Florida, VLM Studios is an exciting non-traditional photography shop run by photographer and graphic designer Vanessa Lam-Mendieta. She specializes in relationship portraits of children and families as well as pregnancy, newborn and baby photography.
Vanessa's passion and love for photography was born at the tender age of 10 when she learned to use her father's Pentax camera and watched as pictures magically appeared on a piece of paper in her father's darkroom. She received her very first camera as a present from her grandfather and has been taking pictures ever since.

It is this passion that drives her to continuously search for new creative ways to photograph her favorite subjects and the very essence that goes into every one of her photographs. She stays at the forefront of her craft by frequently attending photography workshops and applying new techniques to keep her photography fresh and personal.

Her goal is to not just create a memory of what you look like, but create a memory of what you are like...in energy, personality, and style. Her artistic eye and personal approach will delight you and make you feel right at home.

Portrait Collections:  Your portraits will highlight your personality and style in a natural relaxed setting. Whether doing your first family portrait, celebrating a birthday, an anniversary, or a special milestone in your child's life, we'll help you preserve your life's precious memories.

Baby Collections:  There are three different Baby Collections, one of which will certainly fulfill your dreams. These collections include from two to five sessions covering from Maternity to your babys First Birthday. Each session in your Baby Collection is custom-created and personalized for you and your baby, resulting in photographs that are a very personal expression of your family.

A Day in the Life Collections:  Each Collection is designed to capture a "slice of life" by creating an artistic portrait history of your child's day. Whether capturing a few hours or the entire day (from the moment he wakes up to the moment he goes to bed), this Collection will help you preserve those precious childhood memories in a memorable coffee table book.

Portrait Paintings:  Your heirloom portrait oil painting is created on linen canvas, just like the paintings of old, guaranteeing its longevity and enjoyment for generations to come. The creation process of each Portrait Painting is divided into several sessions, depending on the complexity of each piece and including a reference photography session. The artist works with you to best achieve your desired work of art.
