Q: What is an elective prenatal ultrasound?
We offer 2D, 3D & live-motion 4D ultrasound imaging to provide a positive bond for parents with their unborn baby. We also provide keepsake video and baby photos. Research shows that realistic surface images provide a connection between the parents and baby that can be beneficial to the whole family. The ultrasound used in this exam is not performed to better assess the baby for abnormalities. A routine diagnostic examination should have already been performed to assess the gestational age of the fetus and for screening of genetic disorders and fetal anomalies. This elective procedure is not covered by any insurance.
Q: Does this replace the ultrasound at my doctors office?
Absolutely not. Women seeking a 3D/4D ultrasound with 4D Prenatal Imaging must already be receiving prenatal care with a healthcare provider and have undergone a medical diagnostic ultrasound. We include a limited diagnostic scan to confirm the gender, number of babies, babys presentation, placental location and listening to the heart beat. Please note, at no time is this exam to be used in place of a complete diagnostic ultrasound.
Q: Is it safe? Are there any risks to me, or my baby?
Extensive studies over 35 years have found that ultrasound has not been shown to cause any maternal or fetal harm. Routine diagnostic scanning of all pregnancies is now a normal procedure. 3D/4D scans use exactly the same type and intensity of ultrasonic waves as in conventional 2D scan. The combination of increased data gathering by the transducer and software interpretation after data acquisition creates these amazing 3D/4D images and not a higher intensity, frequency or power output.

Q: Do I need an appointment for a 3D/4D ultrasound?
Yes, appointments are necessary for all of our services. For same day appointments, please call to check availability at 305-662-9656.
Q: How long does the 3D/4D ultrasound session take?
Depending on the package you choose, the session will last between 20 to 30 minutes. However, we require 5 to 10 minutes for registration and 10 to 15 minutes after the session for selecting pictures, printing pictures and formatting the DVD/CD.
Q: How far along should I be to have a 3D/4D ultrasound?
If you plan on having only one session, we recommend having the exam performed between 22 and 36 weeks. However, excellent images can be obtained from 16 to 38 weeks. Many mothers opt for our 2-visit Platinum package to see the babys growth from the second to the third trimester. For twins, we recommend scans before 30 weeks.
Q: Will I always get beautiful 3D ultrasound pictures?
In most cases you will. Sometimes if the babys position is face down, i.e., towards your spine, it may be difficult to see the baby's face. In this case, a complimentary re scan will be scheduled. However, the scanned images may not be similar to those you saw elsewhere or even from our center or advertisements. Every baby scans differently, depending on the gestational age, position, amount of fluid, placental location and mother's body habitus. However, we promise to make every effort to obtain the best images.
Q: Can I bring family and friends to the 3D/4D ultrasound session?
Yes. In fact, we encourage you to invite family (including siblings) and friends to attend. This is a wonderful and educational experience that will linger in your memories for a lifetime.
Our scanning room sits comfortably up to 7 people. They can watch the session being performed on a 42" plasma television.
Q: Can you determine the gender with a 3D/4D ultrasound?
Yes, gender can be determined at 15 weeks with a 3D/4D ultrasound. However, if the baby is uncooperative during the session and we are unable to confirm gender, we will re-schedule for a complimentary visit at a later date.
Q: Does Insurance cover the 3D/4D ultrasound?
At the moment, insurance does not cover this as its an elective procedure and is not intended to be a replacement for your physician ordered ultrasound. You will need to pay this as an out of pocket expense.
Q: How much does a 3D/4D ultrasound cost?

Q: Do I need to bring a CD or DVD?
No, we provide everything. You will leave with the take home portion on both CD, DVD and pictures. The pictures you take home will also be on CD to enable you to email them to friends and family as well as make duplicates.
Q: Who will perform the 3D/4D ultrasound?
The exam will be performed by a licensed sonographer in the state of Florida holding the ARDMS credentials.
